Most Colorado counties offer free online property searches through their county assessor portals. Larger counties — Denver, El Paso, Arapahoe, Jefferson, Adams, Larimer, Douglas, Boulder, and Weld — have robust online systems. Some smaller rural counties may require contacting the assessor’s office directly for certain records. All searches through CL Property Search link to official county sources.
The County Assessor determines property values for tax purposes and maintains ownership records. The County Clerk and Recorder records legal documents — deeds, liens, mortgages. For ownership, value, and parcel data: go to the Assessor. For deed copies or lien searches: go to the Clerk and Recorder. Our Property Records Guide explains both offices in detail.
